Official Diamond Grading Report VS. Jeweler Appraisal
|
|
A diamond grading report, also known as a diamond certifiacte, is a statement issued by an independent Gemological Laboratory.
This report includes an array of characteristics of the diamond in question "at the time of evaluation", and an illustrative diagram.
This official report cannot be performed on a mounted diamond, but only on a loose diamond.
The report is usally more objective and therfore more accurate.
An appraisal can be performed on a loose diamond, mounted stone or jewelry.
An appraisal is often used to estimate the price of the diamond, therefore is usually made for insurance purposes.
Since many diamond buyers have become more 'diamond educated', they ask their jewler for a GIA certified diamond.
Some jewelers have issued a report that has been made by a GIA Graduate gemologist. This is not the same as a GIA Diamond Grading Report.
All diamonds sold by Large-Diamonds are accomapnied with a GIA or AGS certificate.
Be aware of what you're buying. Ask for an Official GIA Certificate.
